BioIchijouji Ken is from Digimon Zero Two, and is most known for being The Digimon Kaizer (Digimon Emperor in the dub).
Ken was extremely overshadowed by his older brother, Osamu (Sam), when he was younger. In fact, he was so neglected, that he could basically do whatever he wanted. What he chose to do was follow around Osamu, because he idolized his 'Nii-san.
One day, a strange device appeared from the computer screen, and they both automatically assumed it belonged to Osamu who was, after all, the prodigy child. Osamu locked it in his drawer and instructed Ken not to touch it. However, being a curious kid, Ken snuck into Osamu's room and took the digivice out, which in turn opened a portal into the digital world. To Ken's surprise, when he arrived, there was a digimon named Wormmon there who explained to him that he was one of the chosen children and his partner. Ken was elated, because for once, he had something Osamu did not. When he returned from his adventure, Osamu was waiting for him, and (bitchslapped) lectured Ken on the dangers of the device, hiding it once more.
Angered at his brother, Ken wished that he could have been an only child, that Osamu would disappear. And he got his wish. Osamu was struck down by a car right before Ken's eyes. The prodigal son had passed, leaving Ken with an overwhelming sense of guilt. On that day, Ken swore that he would return the son that had been taken from his parents. Essentially, he assumed Osamu's identity and became the prodigy child that was lost.
A few years later, strange emails began appearing in Ken's mailbox. Emails taunting him with power, and the ability to exceed his brother beyond all possibilities. All he had to do was take out that tiny device once more...
Only this time, Ken did not enter the digital world when he stepped from the gate. It was a strange gloomy land called the Black Ocean. While there, something embedded itself into Ken's neck, which would later (but not yet) be revealed as a dark spore, the human equivalent to the black gears that corrupted digimon. He submerged his digivice in the black ocean, morphing it into the Black D-3 that he carries with him. The events in this place shaped him for the next few years, as he began to become the digimon Kaizer.
This apparently runs concurrent with the events of Digimon Adventure Season one. After the gates are supposedly sealed off forever, Ken opens the Digital Gates and begins his massive take over, using Black Rings to control the digimon to do his biddings.
Ken does not know that digimon are living, breathing creatures, he believes they are mere data and thus his for the taking. The dark spore is the primary reason for Ken's actions, and it begins to drive him insane with his lust for power.
It should also be noted that it is no coincidence that the Kaizer's hair and glasses resemble Osamu. The digital world picks up on secret desires upon passing through the gate, and Ken's desire to emanate Osamu is the reason for his different appearance (and I guess his horrible fashion sense ^^;).
Ken was in the process of stepping through a digital gate, when he wound up inside a desolate city with a dark looming church before him....
